For this connector, it named M16 connector, and it is use for assemble cable, so there would be some requirements about the cable:
(In the UL type connector we have 2PIN &3PIN models, for each PIN number the external dimensions are all the same.)
2PIN Connectors and 3PIN connectors model are the same, so the length about is about 64.5mm(This is the length of the male and female connectors when assembled), the panel side width is different, Rear Type panel is 20.5mm (Suitable for environments with a width of 20.5 mm or more); Front Type Panel is about 25mm (Suitable for environments with a width of 25 mm or more).
That is precisely why the width of the connector head determines the maximum wire size that can be accommodated inside it. For this connector it can support the cable outside diameter is between 4.5mm-7.5mm, if below 4.5mm the connector doesn't secure the cable properly, water may enter the connector, leading to a short circuit; and if over 7.5mm the cable cannot be inserted into the connector, so the connector cannot be used to connect the cable.
This part disassembles the connector, revealing its internal structure and materials:
Hole Size: Diameter 12.0 mm, Height/Depth 11.5 mm.
These are the dimensions of the mounting holes to be cut in the equipment panel to ensure that the connector can pass through and be secured.
Hex Nut: The hexagonal fastener used to secure the connector from the back of the panel, securing the entire connector. (This is also a key factor in determining whether a panel is front-mounted or rear-mounted, nut back of the panel is Rear Type, Nut front the panel is Front Type.)
Gasket: A rubber seal placed between the hex nut and the panel to ensure water resistance.
Rear Male Panel: The main body containing the electrical contacts.
Three-core terminal: Visible inside, these are the gold-plated pins for electrical connection.
Gold-Plated Brass: Gold-plated brass — enhances electrical conductivity, provides resistance to oxidation and corrosion.
Basic body: The main housing, typically made of engineering plastics (such as PA66), which offers insulation, impact resistance and water resistance
Waterproof rubber core: A rubber seal located at the cable entry point to prevent water ingress.
Loosen the tightening nut: Refers to the nut on the cable gland that is loosened to insert a cable and then tightened to secure it.
Individual Dimensions (from left to right):
First small cylinder (Cable Gland end): Width 4 mm.
Hex Nut: Width 18 mm, Thickness 6.5 mm.
Rear Male Panel Body: Length segments are shown as 17 mm, 25 mm, 20.5 mm, 32.5 mm, and 10.5 mm.
Overall Reference Length: 64.5 (REF) mm — This is the total length of the main connector body excluding the gland and nut.
Waterproof Rubber Core: Width 13 mm.
End Cap/Sealing Part: Height 17 mm.
Installation instructions
1.Drill a 12.0 mm hole in the panel.
2.Insert the gasket, rear male panel and hex nut in sequence, then tighten from the rear.
3.Feed the cable through the waterproof rubber core and insert it into the terminal chamber.
4.Tighten the loosening nut at the rear to ensure the rubber core compresses the cable, creating a watertight seal.
5.Check that all components are secure and free from looseness.
This image is a step-by-step installation guide for the AGHUA M16 Waterproof Connector, showing how to join two cables.
It demonstrates the process in four simple stages:
-
Disassembled State (Top): Shows the connector fully taken apart into its two halves, revealing the internal components: the locking nuts, gray outer casings, and the gold-plated terminals ready for wires.
-
Wire Insertion (Second from top): Shows the two halves brought together with the wires (yellow, blue) inserted into the terminals. You can see the red waterproof rubber seal in the center.
-
Housing Joined (Third from top): The outer casings are brought together and partially screwed in.
-
Fully Locked (Bottom): The final assembled state. Both ends are fully tightened, creating a completely sealed, waterproof joint.
In short: This diagram visually instructs the user to insert wires into the terminals, push the housings together, and tighten the nuts to create a secure, waterproof connection.
Here is a concise breakdown of the image:
This is a Size Chart for M16 Waterproof Connector Seal Rings. It helps users select the correct rubber gasket based on their cable thickness to ensure a watertight seal.
If you are not sure what the cable's OD, here are some cable gauge for your reference, (this is some common cable gauge it is just for your reference, Pls refer to the specifications of your own cable).
And there are also other PIN for you choose, like 4PIN/5PIN/6PIN..., check the wire gauge and the current and make a design, then we will help you to choose a solution according to the design. Thanks!
